While working on the Doc Oc project, I had to do a lot of interesting mechanics work to piece the whole thing together. This was the part where I pop riveted the bottoms of soda cans to the base of the plastic backplate, which I would then sew into the back of the jacket.

I co-coached YMCA girls basketball for a few years with my dad. We worked together well, as he had many years of experience from coaching and instructing, and I could utilize my recent experience as a basketball player in school to relate to the team's experience. My favorite moments were when things clicked for them— whether that was successfully working as a team or finally scoring using a technique they had to practice over and over to get right, it always made me proud for them.

I was torn between Reed College and Embry-Riddle, but ultimately I chose Reed. With my experiences there now, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Anyway, I'm holding the acceptance box they sent me (a box with merch, a book, and the official letter— it was pretty cool). Who knew I'd end up working as an intern for Admission, the same office who sends these out?
